What's Actually Worth Buying at the Airport? A Complete Guide
Airport shops are proper money traps, aren't they? Last time I went through Gatwick, I nearly spent fifty quid on absolute rubbish before I came to my senses. Must Read: How to Handle Airport Parking When Travelling with Pets.
After years of making stupid purchases, I've finally worked out what's actually worth buying.

Emergency Travel Kit
Forgotten your phone charger? Need a travel pillow? These things cost more than normal shops, but sometimes you've got no choice.
Better to pay airport prices than spend your holiday without essentials. Just don't make it a habit - pack properly next time!
Duty-Free Bargains
This is where airports actually shine. Perfume, make-up, booze - if you know the normal prices, you can find proper deals.
Did my homework before a trip to Spain and saved twenty quid on perfume for my mum. Worth the research.
Flight Snacks
Airplane food's either rubbish or costs a fortune. I always grab decent snacks - proper sandwich, some chocolate, maybe fruit if I'm feeling healthy.
Much cheaper than buying on the plane, and you know you'll actually want to eat it.
Small Souvenirs Only
Airport souvenirs are mental expensive, but sometimes you spot something cute. Stick to tiny things - keyrings, postcards, local chocolate.
Leave the big stuff for when you're actually at your destination. Much better prices in town.
Sort Your Parking First
Before I even think about shopping, I make sure my parking's sorted. Short stay parking Gatwick works brilliantly for quick drop-offs.
Always compare airport parking deals online first - saves loads and means you're not stressed about money before you've even started your trip.

What to Avoid
Skip the overpriced electronics, touristy clothes, and anything that screams "I got mugged at the airport." That fifteen-pound neck pillow? You can get the same one online for a fiver.

The Bottom Line
Think before you buy. Emergencies and duty-free bargains? Go for it. Everything else? Probably overpriced tourist tat.
You'll save money, pack lighter, and still get the little treats that make travel fun without feeling like you've been robbed.
